How to speak with a mid-atlantic accent for my audition?
I am trying out for the role of Liesl von Trapp in The Sound Of Music, for my school. This is a very big, serious production, so I need to get this right. I really really need to learn how to speak and say lines with a mid-atlantic accent like the one Charmian Carr uses for the film. (This is what the director wants.) Can you please find some resources for me?? Videos, youtube links, websites, or just any tips you have would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks

It took me 4 YEARS of living in the West Midlands when I was at University and I had mates who thought it was their God given duty to make me lose my wally AmeriKan accent and develop a proper Mid Atlantic Accent.. it TOOK ME 4 YEARS to develop it and I still use it today.. You will NOT be able to pick it up in a matter of a few days, ESPECIALLY if you are not LIVING in the WEST MIDLANDS.
It's a great accent and the best one for AmeriKans to develop because it says"Hey.. I know I'm not a Brit.. but this shows how I am trying to adopt to not being one.. so cut me some slack". A Mid Atlantic Accent is VERY sophisticated and, if you are an AmeriKan.. you WILL have a problem learning it without sounding more like DICK VAN DYKE in Chitty, Chitty Bang Bang than Chamisn Carr in Sound of Music because AmeriKans can't HEAR the slight nuances in languages which is why they have such a hard time learning other languages.
